What Can I Do?

Education—Although your time with us may be limited, there are a few ways you can work within the Kurland Learning Center curriculum to enhance and minister to our students.

Vacation Bible School—If your heart is to serve children by teaching them Biblical truths, we can help you coordinate an age-appropriate VBS for you to minister to the children in our area.

Building Projects – You can help us to expand our learning centers to other areas by assisting with or sponsoring a building project.

Special Interest Meetings – If you have a particular gifting toward women, teenagers, men, AIDS victims, single mothers, etc., then you can hold a meeting with some of the people in our town, who may need to hear from someone who can speak to and help educate them in a unique way.

Medical Missions – If you would like to come to our village to give of your professional knowledge as a doctor, dentist, optometrist, etc., we would welcome you to come to provide education as well as treatment for the people of our communities.

Special Project – If you are talented in the arts and would like to come and teach the children in dance, drama, art, or music, we would gladly have to come work with our students in the arts.

When Can I Come?

If you are an individual who would like to come for 4-8 weeks, please contact us with the dates that you would like to come so that we can accommodate your special situation.

If you are an individual who would like to come with other missionaries, we develop short-term mission trips periodically as a ministry or in partnership with other ministries and churches.  We are praying that missionaries from all over the country will join us for one of these trips.  Please write us if you are interested at contact@goshenintl.org, and you can check the website periodically for more up-to-date information on upcoming trips.

If you are a church or large organization that would like to bring 15 or more people to help us in South Africa for 10 or more days, please contact us at contact@goshenintl.org.  We would be happy to help you organize your mission trip.

What Do I Need/What Can I Expect?

If you are coming to visit us, you can expect South Africa to be very much a marriage of the first and third world.  If you are packing, pack as if you are going on any other trip or vacation where you will be spending some time outdoors.  You DO NOT need special shots to enter the country.  Remember that you will be with us for only a short time, but you should not forget your personal items such as a camera, special vitamins, or particular books.

Because South Africa is a popular tourist destination, travel to the country is typically done without many complications.  If you are coming to the country for less than three months, then you do not need a visa from the South African embassy.   The only thing that you will need is a round-trip ticket that you can show at customs.

When you arrive in South Africa, you can expect for people to be kind and courteous as you are a visitor to their country.  Although Africa as whole, and even South Africa, is not always safe, our area in the Western Cape is one of the safest places in the country. We exercise caution wherever we go, but we believe that you will feel safe, secure, and free to serve when you are with us.

This is just a snapshot of what you will find  living and working with Goshen International.  If you have additional questions feel free to write me at contact@goshenintl.org.  You can also download a copy our Short-Term Missions Request Form.
